Al Takaya: Community Kitchens

Volunteers at a WFP-supported community kitchen in Khartoum are dedicated to serving hot soup to hungry residents, providing vital nourishment to those affected by food insecurity. Their efforts contribute significantly to the community’s well-being, ensuring that vulnerable populations receive regular, nutritious meals amidst challenging circumstances. This initiative highlights the critical role of humanitarian support in addressing hunger and promoting food security in Sudan.

As result of the ongoing war, there is a looming famine in Sudan, leaving many without access to food or water. 25.6 million people are experiencing crisis levels of hunger.

We support the communal kitchens that assist hundreds of thousands in Sudan’s embattled cities and displacement camps. The community kitchens provide regular meals and social and emotional support amid a deepening famine.
