Takaya Support

Community kitchens feeding hope

Emergency meal distribution through a network of local volunteer-run community kitchens (Takaya) across Sudan.

About the Program

What is a Takaya?

A Takaya (تكية) is a traditional Sudanese community kitchen — a place where food is prepared and shared freely with those in need. The concept has deep roots in Sudanese culture and Islamic tradition.

During Sudan's ongoing conflict, the Takaya model has been revived and scaled by grassroots volunteers to feed internally displaced persons, schoolchildren, and vulnerable families in cities across the country.

SPAFS supports these locally-led kitchens by providing financial resources, coordination, and documentation — amplifying the impact of dedicated community organizers.

Provide daily meals to displaced and food-insecure families
